Columbus, OH – July 30th, 2025 — History was made today in Columbus as the city welcomed His Royal Majesty King Tackie Teiko Tsuru II, Ga Mantse and President of the Ga Traditional Council, who has officially arrived in Ohio to participate in the highly anticipated Ohio Ghana Festival 2025.
The monarch’s arrival has set the tone for a weekend of rich cultural celebration, unity, and tradition, with the Ga Mantse leading a royal delegation from Ghana to honor the heritage and legacy of the Ga people and the broader Ghanaian diaspora in the Midwest.
This is not just a visit—it’s a powerful reunion between Ghana and its sons and daughters abroad. His Majesty’s presence in Columbus is a living testament to the enduring bond between Ghana and the Ghanaian diaspora.
The Ga Mantse’s visit is strategically planned and executed by and the Ohio Ghana Festival 2025, which runs from July 31 to August 3. His Royal Majesty will feature prominently in all major festival events:
Akwaaba Night & Royal Reception: Friday, August 1, Wexner Center for the Arts, 1871 N. High St.
Kasapreko Grand Durbar (Cultural Parade & Festival Day) Saturday, August 2, at 4300 Kimberly Parkway, Columbus, OH.
Community & Civic Engagements: Ongoing, with local leaders, institutions, and stakeholders.
Strengthening Sister Cities
Beyond the celebration, the Ga Mantse emphasized his visit as a strategic move to deepen the sister-city relationship between Accra and Columbus, a partnership built on cultural exchange, education, and economic development.
“The Ohio Ghana Festival is more than music and dance—it’s a bridge between Ghana and the U.S.,” said His Majesty upon arrival. “It is my honor to walk across that bridge with our people and continue building a legacy of unity.”
A Festival Like No Other
This year’s festival is now being hailed as the biggest and most culturally significant edition yet, largely due to the Ga Mantse’s presence. Organizers say the momentum behind the event has already surpassed expectations, with high media interest and cultural pride echoing throughout the city. As the drums continue to beat and flags wave in celebration, Columbus has opened its arms not just to a king—but to a culture, a history, and a people whose story continues to unfold in both Africa and America.
