The Ghanaian community in Ohio is set to commemorate Ghana’s 68th Independence Anniversary with a series of events aimed at celebrating the country’s rich heritage while fostering unity and progress. Organized by the Ghana Council Ohio, the celebrations will take place across various locations in Columbus from March 6th to March 10th, 2025 under the theme “Honoring the Past: Embracing the Future.”
The festivities will commence with a Flag Hoisting Ceremony on March 6th at Capitol Square, Columbus, symbolizing Ghana’s sovereignty and the deep-rooted ties between Ghana and the United States. The event will begin at 11:00 AM.
On March 8th, the spotlight will be on leadership and community development with a Community Leaders Luncheon, bringing together key figures within the Ghanaian diaspora to discuss opportunities for collaboration and growth.
A Thanksgiving Service will follow on March 9th at the House of Faith Ministries Columbus USA Inc., located at 3360 Patriot Blvd, Columbus, OH 43219, starting at 10:00 AM. The service will offer a moment of reflection, gratitude, and prayers for the continued prosperity of Ghana and its diaspora.
The celebrations will conclude on March 10th with a Career Technology Education Tour at Horizon Science Academy, beginning at 10:00 AM. This initiative highlights the importance of education and innovation in shaping the future of the Ghanaian community.
