A 12-member delegation from Ghana, led by Joyce Bawah Mogtari, Special Adviser to President John Dramani Mahama, visited Columbus, Ohio to strengthen the Sister Cities partnership between Accra and Columbus and Ohio-Ghana relations.
The delegation engaged with local officials, including Mayor Andrew Ginther, former Mayor Michael Coleman, and representatives from Ohio State University and Columbus Public Health, focusing on collaborations in health, agriculture, and education. Lawyer Joyce Bawah Mogtari emphasized Ghana’s stable investment climate, stating, “Ghana is a very safe place for investment and good for business with enormous potential and opportunities.”

The visit aimed to attract Ohio investors to Ghana’s sectors such as agriculture, mining, and education. This initiative aligns with President Mahama’s “Reset Ghana” agenda, which focuses on economic restoration, improving the business environment, governance reforms, and accountability. The delegation’s efforts are seen as a step towards achieving these goals by fostering international partnerships and attracting foreign investment.
The Sister Cities relationship, established in 2015, has facilitated initiatives like the Initiative for Food and Agricultural Transformation, promoting sustainable agriculture. This visit is expected to enhance economic ties, encouraging Ohio businesses to explore opportunities in Ghana, thereby contributing to Ghana’s economic growth and diversification.
