COLUMBUS, OH — Columbus is preparing to transform into a hands-on science wonderland as the highly anticipated COSI Science Festival returns from April 30 to May 3, 2025. The four-day celebration, led by the Center of Science and Industry (COSI), is expected to draw thousands of residents and visitors eager to explore the world of science, technology, engineering, arts, and mathematics (STEAM).
The festival kicks off with community science events taking place across Central Ohio, bringing pop-up experiments, workshops, and interactive exhibits to schools, libraries, parks, and local organizations. These events aim to make science accessible to all ages and backgrounds, encouraging curiosity and hands-on learning.
The grand finale — the Big Science Celebration — will take place on Saturday, May 3, outside COSI’s downtown campus. This free, family-friendly outdoor event will feature over 100 exhibitors, live demonstrations, robotics, space exploration, and more. Local and national partners, including NASA, Battelle, Ohio State University, and Nationwide Children’s Hospital, are expected to participate.
“This isn’t just a festival — it’s a movement to bring science to the people,” said Dr. Frederic Bertley, President and CEO of COSI. “We’re excited to engage with communities across Central Ohio and ignite a passion for discovery.”
The 2025 edition of the festival carries added significance as Columbus prepares to host the Regeneron International Science and Engineering Fair later this year, further positioning the city as a national leader in innovation and education.
In addition to live events, COSI plans to distribute over 10,000 Learning Lunchbox kits to support STEAM learning at home, and will spotlight local “STEAM Stars” making a difference in their communities.
Organizers are encouraging early participation and registration for select events. Full event schedules and information can be found at cosiscifest.org.
The countdown is on — and Columbus is ready to celebrate science like never before.
